Twitter founders’ new social network Branch is open for business

Branch, the new social network funded by Twitter co-founders Biz Stone and Evan Williams, has today stepped out of private Beta, and into public view. The idea of it is to simplify online conversation, and cut out some of the internet noise.

In a blogpost the founders says that they “want sharing your ideas on Branch to feel just like sharing your ideas around a table with friends,” and with the clean, simplified nature of Branch they seem to have achieved that. Read More »

Insiders say Twitter will seek an IPO in 2014

An illuminating profile of Twitter CEO Dick  Costolo in the New York Times looking at his stewardship of Twitter since the three founders either left to focus on other projects, Biz Stone and Evan Williams now run incubator start-up incubator Obvious, or took more strategic roles as Jack Dorsey has done.

In amongst the background insights into Costolo, who is a former stand-up comedian, is a mention of a possible date when Twitter might seek an initial public offering and follow Facebook and LinkedIn to the markets.

The date for the IPO is said to be sometime in 2014 giving Twitter more time to grow and develop revenue streams. Read More »

Callled Medium it brings together blogging, Stone and Williams both worked at Blogger, with community and curation.

Twitter: senior mangement changes

Evan Williams, one of the co-founders of Twitter and its erstwhile chief executive, is taking another step back from the company to work on something completely new, the details of which remain under wraps.

Williams’ announcement comes amid rumours that Jack Dorsey, another Twitter co-founder (and the sender of the first tweet), is planning a return to the social network, either as chief product officer or CEO. The CEO role is currently filled by Dick Costolo, who took over from Williams last October.
