As Super Bowl 2013 fast approaches Unruly Media have come up with the Top 10 Super Bowl Social Video Facts Every Brand Should Know. Insights include that 75% of the top 20 most shared ads from Super Bowl 2012 were launched before Super Sunday and for two years running Volkswagen has been the most shared brand. Its 2012 teaser video attracted 3x more shares than its game day ad.
The VW ad for 2012, the ‘Barkside, a follow-up to VW’s excellent ‘Dark Side’ video of 2011, was also one of the most shared ads of last year, which was trailed by a highly shared teaser underscoring how important the Super Bowl has become to online video.
The total number of shares in Super Bowl ads has increased by 129% from 2011 to 2012 and the top 10 Super Bowl ads of 2012 were on average 83 seconds long, 31 seconds longer than in 2011.
