Facebook is like a swimming pool, according to new ad
Last month Facebook celebrated hitting one billion users and launched its first ever ad campaign. It was an existential kind of film that compared the social network to chairs…bridges and great nations.
These are all things that connect us was the message. It was a nice idea and ad even if US ad agency Wieden + Kennedy did stretch a point.
Now it has added to the things that connect us campaign with a new image posted online. It’s of a swimming pool. It is apparently also just want Facebook is like.
Splashy, wet and a place to do lengths? Not quite, according to Facebook: “Swimming pools are filled with people. Some you know. Some you don’t. And every once in a while you see something that maybe you shouldn’t. That’s why swimming pools are a little like Facebook.”
I have no idea what it means by “and every once in a while you see something that maybe you shouldn’t“. What were they thinking?
Again, maybe they’re stretching a point here, but the image did go on to pick up 177, 762 likes, 12, 370 shares and almost 10,000 comments. Admittedly not everyone being positive.
