Mars Curiosity parody takes off – We’re NASA and We Know It [virals]
The interest in the Mars Curiosity has been huge and has gone a long way to reawakening interest in NASA and space exploration. You only had to have a look around social media to see the pictures and tweets being shared from the official @MarsCuriosity account and others.
There was bound to be a parody and here it is blending the landing into a music video parody styled after the LMFAO’s music video “Sexy and I Know It”.
The actors appear as various NASA characters we have all seen from mission control including stars and stripes Mohawk Guy – real-life flight director Bobak Ferdowsi who became a Twitter star — played by @dubhud.
The lyrics are cleverly packed with references to the mission, such as “When I E-D-L, / time for 7 minutes of flamin’ hell”. In case you were wondering EDL is NASA speak for entry, descent and landing.
The video is more great publicity for NASA, which probably couldn’t have got better if it had paid an agency. The video adds to the success NASA has already seen for its “7 minutes of terror” video detailing how the rover would land on Mars. That racked up more than 1.7 million views.
NASA has shown it has a sense of fun about this and has retweeted the video:
