Thousands share Usain Bolt’s legendary tweet as he sets new Twitter record
Thousands last night shared Usain Bolt’s tweet to thank his fans and confirm his legendary status as the sprinter celebrated defending his 200m Olympic title.
Bolt also set a new Olympic Games conversation record with over 80,000 tweets per minute for his 200m victory, according to Twitter.
Bolt, who had already won gold and retained his 100m title, tweeted that the win made him a “living legend”.
The 200m race saw a clean sweep for Jamaica as Yohan Blake won silver and Warren Weir took bronze.

After successfully defending his Olympic 100m and 200m titles, Bolt said that he had proved “I’m also the greatest athlete to live. I am in the same category as Michael Johnson”.
He then tweeted his legendary status to his 1.3 million Twitter followers, which at last count had been shared by more than 8,200:
