I wrote earlier about the success that Team GB’s Olympic athletes have had on Twitter with many seeing their follow counts massively rocket.

Two more that is true of are Gold medal cycling winners Laura Trott and Jason Kenny.

There is also an added note to their Olympic success as Trott, 20, announced on Twitter a little earlier that the two were dating.

Trott won gold in the omnium and team pursuit cycling events at the Olympic velodrome, while Kenny, 24, took team and sprint golds.

The pair was spotted out together last night at the beach volley ball mixing with David Beckham and Prince Harry whilst later sharing a moment together.

Then earlier this afternoon @LauraTrott31 tweeted so here he is @JasonKenny107 he has finally joined twitter .. .  She then revealed the two were dating.

For Kenny, who has so far sent two tweets, it has been a speedy rise. He has already amassed 19,946 followers.

Nice story and another great little example of how Twitter is playing a role in these games to make it feel so personal with so many athletes interacting and tweeting with their followers.

It has really helped on the Team GB front to make these London 2012 games feel like the winning games that they are.
