Pinterest throws its doors open to all

If you still haven’t had a Pinterest invite that’s no longer a problem.

Today Pinterest announced that it was dropping its invite only approach to getting a Pinterest account and opening itself up to one and all.

Five of the best online ads of July: Adidas, Refuge, Louis Vuitton, Dove and Ikea

Following a request on last month’s blog post asking for greater focus on non-TV creative and interactive ads we’ve tried to expand out this month’s ad list. Showcasing interactive ads after they’ve run is difficult as the interactivity has normally been taken away but we’re going to do our best for a few months. Likewise the majority of video ads run across both TV and Video (99% for Vindico in the UK and 97% in the US) so it can be difficult to find video only executions, which have also done enough to make the top 5! It must be Twitter love: Laura Trott and Jason Kenny

I wrote earlier about the success that Team GB’s Olympic athletes have had on Twitter with many seeing their follow counts massively rocket.

Two more that is true of are Gold medal cycling winners Laura Trott and Jason Kenny.

Team GB mentioned more than 4.4 million times on Twitter as athletes strike follower Gold

Mo Farah celebrating his 2010 European Championships 10,000 metres gold medal -- repeated again in London You can hear it in the various venues as British athletes battle it out. The chant of “GB, GB…” that has been as ever present as the sea of Union Jack flags.

That physical representation of Team GB has been echoed in social media as data from Twitter reveals that  there have been more than 4.4 million mentions of Team GB since the Games began.

The biggest spike came on on Saturday 4 August – the day Team GB won six gold medals including those won by Jessica Ennis and - Mo Farah. Read More »

Zynga loses COO as its stock continues to struggle

Farmville maker Zynga loses COO as share price continues to dipZynga has parted company with its chief operating officer John Schappert with immediate effect as shares in the social games firm continue to fall.

Shares in the FarmVille and PetVille game maker were down by more than 2% when they closed last night and now stand at $2.95.

Zynga floated on the Nasdaq at $10 a share in December. While it briefly bobbed above its IPO price its stock has been on a downward trajectory since. Read More »
