General Motors back in talks with Facebook about advertising

General Motors: Chief marketing officer Joel EwanickThe WSJ is reporting that General Motors and Facebook are holding talks about the automotive firm returning to the social network as a paid advertiser.

The news comes almost two months after GM dramatically announced it was to cease advertising on the site in a embarrassing blow to Facebook in the run  up to its IPO.

The visual economy: Is a pin – worth a thousand words?

Valued at more than $1bn in the USand still growing, according to Comscore figures from March, at a rate of 145% since the start of 2012, it’s easy to see why marketers are seeking to capitalise on a new social sharing channel such as Pinterest.

Euro 2012 final sets new Twitter record as 16.5 million tweet about the final

UEFA has released some statistics following the Euro 2012 Final which saw the game breaking Twitter’s record for Tweets per second around a sporting event with 15,358 TPS as Juan Mata García (@juanmata10) scored.

Fernando Torres was the most popular player on Twitter as measured by the UEFA.com Player Broswer, with the #Torres hashtag attracting over 18,000 tweets, about 300 more than second-placed #Balotelli.

Twitter reveals details of government requests for user information

US authorities made almost 700 requests to Twitter for user informationTwitter has issued its first transparency report card that shines a light on how often it has been asked by governments and their agencies to delete tweets and hand over user account information.

No surprise, that with the biggest user base and largest number of Twitter users, the US has topped the table for requests for user information.

Overall Twitter received 849 requests for information about user accounts, from 23 countries, and nearly 80% of those requests came from US authorities. Read More »
