I started looking into moving to the UK in late 2011. I decided the best course of action was to contact Canadians in PR living in London to see how they found working there.

Once I arrived, I was referred to a post at an agency a twitter friend worked for. I had applied there before with no luck, but my twitter acquaintance meant I had a foot in the door. I have now been working at the agency for 2 months thanks to Twitter.

I think it's great that Rory is using social media to boost his efforts in finding a job - particularly if he is looking for employment in online comms.

In a market that is saturated with so many graduates offering the same skills, it's difficult to stand out, so I can appreciate the effort that is going into his campaign. I found my job at Chapter Eight through Twitter as well - my story was in last weeks LOOK magazine. I was a History graduate looking for a job in digital marketing and I found networking in Twitter, and digitally advertising myself was a useful way of making my skills stand out in a competitive industry.

I commend Rory for his efforts and I wish him the best of luck. If I found my job through social media, I'm sure he can too.
