BMI turns Pinterest into a lottery game

Is this the first example of a brand using Pinterest in this way? Airline BMI has launched a Lottery style competition on Pinterest that challenges people to repin up to 6 of its 45 images of various BMI destinations.

The winning numbers are then selected from repinned images and free flights go to the winner.

Thousands of jobs to go in major Yahoo restructure

Yahoo’s new chief executive, Scott Thompson, is reported to be planning a major restructure of the troubled web firm’s business, which is likely to result in thousands of layoffs, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The changes could be announced as soon as the end of this month and will hit Yahoo’s products division. Its public relations and marketing, research and weaker regional operations are also said to be under threat.

Cookie legislation is the law, are brands ready?

Many have argued that this law is unworkable, that solutions need browser software development, and that creativity and usability of the internet will be adversely impacted, but doing nothing is not an option; the fact that some brands have taken steps to comply shows that solutions can be developed which do not adversely impact user experience on the web.
