Labour leader Ed Miliband hit by Twitter trending storm

Ed Miliband: engulfed in #blackbusters Twitter stormLabour leader Ed Miliband has been having a terrible week. First, he was under assault from his former advisor policy guru Lord Glasman earlier week who said his leadership has “no strategy, no narrative and little energy”. Further pressure came today from Labour Shadow defence secretary, Jim Murphy, who said that Labour should not simply oppose all government spending cuts.

Now Ed Miliband is trending twice on Twitter after a gaffe in a tweet was seized upon by and set the Twitterverse alight. The Labour leader tweeted his sadness at the passing of 80s gameshow host Bob Holness who presented ‘Blockbusters’ although his tweet include a crucial mistake and highly embarrassing mistake. Why LinkedIn is better than Twitter

When things start to feel stale you need to rethink your strategy. And Twitter is no different. This new kid on the block has given its user interface a makeover and while introducing a host of new features (http://fly.twitter.com/). The idea is to make it more persuasive as a social networking platform while also making it more intuitive for the un-initiated to navigate. However, the response has not all been positive. Anti drugs campaign becomes first ad on Facebook’s new Timeline

A really smart campaign here from Israel’s Anti-Drug Authority that makes great creative use of Facebook Timeline’s design and the way it splits your profile evenly down the middle. It is also appears to be the first brand to use Facebook Timeline for advertising.

It uses the Timeline to show a man’s descent into drugs and shows how his life would be if he were clean. Read More »
