Twitter is launching its first Promoted Trend ads in the UK today and Sky has been revealed as the first advertiser with a number of others lined up.

Ori Allon Julpan Chairman and CEOTwitter has acquired a tech firm called Julpa, which specialises in analysing the way people share information on the social web, for an undisclosed sum.

Google opens Google+ to all and turns Hangouts users into broadcasters

Google’s social network Google+ is 90 days old and today it is adding a number of new features including the fact that invites will no longer be required to join as it moves from field trials to beta. From today Google+ is open to one and all. The open door invite is one of nine changes changes announced today. I know, a pretty random number until you realise that Google has made 91 other changes since launch  (many of which are posted here) and this makes 100.

Most of the other changes today are about Google+ Hangouts. Today Hangouts comes to the mobile and so does the ability to broadcast your Google+ Hangout meeting, which can already include as many as nine people, to a wider audience. Read More »
