Corrie star Brooke Vincent rapped by producers for Twitter endorsements
I love ‘Coronation Street’ and have to admit to occasionally looking at what its stars are tweeting like wag wannabe Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster, and has pretty much grown up on the street.
And boy does she love to Twitter. So much so that Corrie bosses have had to tell her to stop using Twitter to plug products to her 76,852 followers.
According to a report in the Mirror studio bosses called in the just turned 19-year old whose character Sophie is gay for a chat after she appeared to endorse a number of brands by posting photos. The alleged plugs were for McDonald’s, Domino’s Pizza, Nando’s, and Sienna fake tan.
The actress, who is dating Chelsea footballer Josh McEachran, as you do, loves posting pictures on Twitter of literally everything she does including shots like this of her eating in McDonald’s with fellow Corrie actress Sacha Parkinson.
The Mirror says it is not known if Brooke received any freebies in return, but considering how well some of the brands have done out of our little Brooke you would have to think she got something.
A Corrie insider said: “Brooke is keen on Twitter but there are strict guidelines about what actors and actresses can post online. Brooke’s recent tweets have crossed the line by endorsing so many products. A producer gave her a serious ticking-off. Other cast members may be dragged in for a few stern words too,” ITV said.
So it is okay to endorse some products? She is not the only one at it. Product endorsements on Twitter by celebrities is rife. Some of these are, of course, official and some are less so. Do teens need any encouragement to head to McDonald’s or Domino’s? Probably not, but it can’t help to have an attractive high profile TV actress tweeting away about how much she loves your products.
ITV added that the cast of Coronation Street have been “advised to consider tweets carefully”. Controlling some cast members might be more difficult than others. Here’s what Brooke seems to thing of all the fuss on Twitter.
