Customer service Twitter accounts to benefit from new direct message policy

Twitter: change of heart on direct messages

Companies using Twitter as a customer service tool will welcome reports that accounts can now be set so that anyone can send them direct messages – the private tweeting facility.

At the moment, you can only send DMs to other Twitter accounts that follow you. Cue dozens of corporate Twitter feeds asking people already annoyed with some aspect of service to follow them so that any confidential information can be exchanged in private.

News of the World advertisers targeted on Twitter in Milly Dowler fallout

The fallout from the story that the News of the World allegedly hacked the phone of murdered teenager Milly Dowler could have far reaching implications for News International hitting all parts of its business including commercially as the paper’s advertisers are targeted via a Twitter campaign.

A list of News of the World advertisers have been published online with a link to a pre-prepared tweet asking if they will be reconsidering their advertising, such as this: “Dear @TheCooperative, will you be reconsidering your advertising spend with #notw given that we now know they hacked Milly Dowler’s phone?” Read More »

I love ‘Coronation Street’ and have to admit to occasionally looking at what its stars are tweeting like wag wannabe Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster, and has pretty much grown up on the street.
