Twitter plans to promote itself more to consumers
PR Week has the story of the appointment of Rachel Bremer being appointed as Twitter’s European communications manager.
While that’s all very interesting its the focus on consumers that she hints at that could signal Twitter’s future development plans here in the UK and globally.
Bremer joins from Spark PR where she was , managing director of Europe operation and she’ll work alongside Twitter’s new European boss, Tony Wang, who recently indicated that users who broke the super-injunction to reveal Ryan Giggs’ name could face the English courts and that if they do it will be on their own.
Bremer starts this week and report into Sean Garrett, Twitter vice-president of communications, as well as Wang.
Bremer told PRWeek: “It’s such an exciting time and great to have the opportunity to work on a platform that I’ve used and enjoyed personally since 2007. I can’t reveal too much about our UK Twitter plans yet but let’s just say I’ll be looking at promoting Twitter to UK consumers and there are exciting projects afoot.”
This suggests promoting Twitter out behind its core group of active users. As we know Twitter has an estimated 300 million plus registered accounts, but it has far fewer very active users.
