NASA, YouTube and Google celebrate space day [infographic]

It’s space day. Okay, unofficially, but it is a day of astro anniversaries. It is literally all happening. From Russian to the United States. On this day in 1961 Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagari became the first man in space. Twenty years later to the day the Space Shuttle STS-1 (Columbia) blasted into orbit for the first time.

Twitter Trends focuses on geography as it adds 70 new locations

Twitter: where in the world are you?

Do you pay any attention to Twitter trends in your area? Do you even know what they are, or do you only ever log in via one of the Twitter clients that doesn’t bother with Twitter trends or their geographical breakdown?

Twitter has just extended its locations to over 100 cities and countries, meaning you can now see what Venezuelans or Ecuadorians are all talking about at any given moment.

Paywall sees traffic falls at the New York Times, but its early

We’re only a little way into paywall territory at the New York Times after it went live on March 28, but Hitwise has put out some figures giving an early indication of how the paper is doing with its social media powered metered model.

Hitwise took a look at total visits to NYTimes.com for 12 days before and after paywall launch. There’s absolutely no surprise that there has been an overall decrease, but what’s interesting is this has not been as large as some might have predicted (in visits at least). Read More »
