Comparethemarket looks for social media “ambassador”

Neat little campaign from price comparison site Comparethemarket.com. It is on the hunt for a social media “ambassador”. The winner will be chosen in May by a public vote.

Okay the actual online ad is to work for the fictional republic of Meerkovo and “help peoples understand the difference between comparethemeerkat.com and comparethemarket.com”.

There is an online application process and selected candidates will be interviewed in mid-April. It is touted as 6-month job with a £40k salary. Pretty good for the right social media type.

The successful interviewees will then be ask to show why they are best person for the role by running their own mini campaigns using social media and other communications tools.  Then comes the public vote to decide which of shortlisted candidate is selected for the role.

Do you have the drive, commitment, creativity, communication skill and general panache to represent beautiful village of Meerkovo as its UK Ambassador? Aleksandr Orlov, founder of famous website comparethemeerkat.com, is looking for an exceptional ambassador to help UK peoples understand the dreadful problem facing villagers of Meerkovo.

You will be responsibles for representing the village at some of UK’s biggest cultural and sporting events like Wimbledon, Glastonbury, The Last Night of the Proms and the Lord’s Test Match*. The role will also include creating and managing social media campaigns and writing regular column in illustrious Meerkovian newspaper.

You not need any specific experience or qualifications. However, you do need demonstrate:

  • A clear understand of terrible problem facing Meerkovo.
  • Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven in-depth experience of using social media on interweb.
  • Creativity and abilities to generate strong ideas which will communicate Meerkovo’s predicament.

The very handsome package includes an impressive payment of £40,000 (gross) for a six month period and free attendance at popular events. An official car may be also provided for all Ambassadorial duty. You will work mostly in the luxury of your own home or mansion with requirement for some travels and weekend work. The role will be subject to separate terms and conditions set out in a Contract for Service.
