LinkedIn ads perform really badly

Silicon Alley Insider is reporting today that ads on LinkedIn do not perform well at all for advertisers with cost per click as high as $27.

If like me any many others you received a $100 voucher to advertise on LinkedIn, which oddly requires an activation fee. That is itself odd and is really something of a disincentive to use it (like that Facebook voucher I used that made me put my credit card details in which then donated money to Mark Zuckerberg). Twitter celebrates New Year tweets per second record

Were you tweeting at midnight? I mean desperately trying on some overloaded network? If not you or me then a lot of other people according to Twitter which says just four seconds after midnight in Japan on January 1st, 2011, Twitterers set an all-time record in the number of Tweets sent per second (TPS).

At that moment, the world sent a whopping 6,939 TPS as the world wished friends and others a Happy New Year or “Akemashite omedetou gozaimasu”. Read More »

Ebooks v real books [Infographic]

Does one have to win? It’s a good question. I love my books. I like piles of them in my flat. I may not read them again, but it’s nice to have them.

The Amazon Kindle is also great and growing on me — and the launch of its Kindle ebook lending service will surely boost that. I was chatting to parental friends surprised that some of them were very keen on getting one as well. That seems to show it has real cross generation appeal and so powerful growth that could really damage the book market. Read More »
