Social media in 2011 – The reign of content

For almost two years now, digital marketers have been riding the crest of a wave.  Social media has been ‘new’ enough for the simple setting up of a social presence to equate to a ‘win’ for a large majority of marketing departments worldwide.

Facebook announces the “social inbox” and @facebook email address for all

Facebook has taken the lid off of its big email (but not email) announcement that was tipped last week in a major challenge to Google’s Gmail and Microsoft’s Hotmail with the launch of a “social inbox”, which allows the integrating of chat, texts and email in one place. The idea is that it creates one seamless social media conversation.

It is also launching @facebook.com email addresses for all those who want them and I imagine there will be quite a few. Read More »
