Gap gives away 10,000 pairs of jeans on Facebook Places
Earlier this week Facebook announced the addition of deals to Facebook Places and Gap, fresh from its new logo corporate fubar, is straight in there with this offer to give away 10,000 pairs of jeans.
All customers have to do is check-in and even if they don’t score a free pair of jeans you can still get 40% off.
This kind of deal shows how powerful Facebook could be in this space now it has started to push Facebook Places with deals. Sadly, we get no free jeans in the UK, but deals should come our way soon.
The US deal is nationwide, from east coast to west coast and every store in between, and all you have to do is show any Gap employee your check-in and you could get your free pair of basic 5 pocket jeans with a value up to $59.50.

Very nice, simple use of places. They should consider giving away free stationary with the swiftly ditched logo too. Might become a collectors item…

[...] Over the last year, Facebook has seen a ten-fold increase in use of its mobile services. It should come as no surprise therefore, that they’re keen to monetize it. Facebook Deals will use Places, one of their newest innovations, to do just that. They hope to create new revenue streams from retail stores, venues, and new businesses, all of whom they hope users will ‘check in’ to. Deals may well eat into Groupon’s market share, as Facebook users will be able to get all their offers through one site. And for those in America, Deals also has some brilliant benefits – like Gap giving away 10,000 pairs of jeans. [...]
