Star Wars augmented reality: TIE Fighters attack NYC
This is so cool! I saw this tweeted, but it is too good not to share. It’s test footage from an early version of the upcoming game ‘Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner’ – the first augmented reality Star Wars game.
What’s so cool is that the game overlays itself on whatever appears in the camera lens of your Apple iPhone. So if you point to the night’s sky you’re suddenly flying a TIE fighter in space — or as this video shows through Manhattan. It’s like geek dreams.
It is due out in mid-November for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4th Gen. Developed by Vertigore Games and published by THQ Wireless. So go ahead “Stop that ship! Blast ‘em! …”

that’s not really augmented reality, that’s just a visual feed as the background…
Oh man! I want this for my Android!!
how can you say that’s not AR?? I will never look at New York the same again…
What Rob said – it certainly changes my reality when I look at it.
unless you run very fast, it will always look as if you were sitting in a Tie Fighter that would not be flying at all. pretty useless.
I tell you what, this would become completely amazing if you played it whilst being in one of the Manhatten tourist helicopters!
Maybe it’s just me…But why would a TIE Fighter shoot TIE Fighters?
Star Wars geeks, take it away!
agree with chris, but it’s cool!!
