Bugger? What’s going on at notorious iPhone factory Foxconn?

Johann Hari, the redoubtable Independent journalist and campaigner, has turned up on US current affairs programme highlighting once again the issue of extremely poor working conditions among Chinese factory workers – particularly those working to make Apple’s iPads and iPhones.

News of the World paywall to launch in October

Big news from News International. It has confirmed its paywall for the News of the World will go live next month.

News International are making it cheaper than The Times with plans to charge £1 a day or £1.99 for four week’s access to the News of the World’s website. Read More »

The most powerful colours of the web [Infographic]

Colourlovers has followed its colours of the social web infographic (how blue was that?) with this wonderful creation – a visualisation of the colours of the world wide web. It’s also as Bob might have said tangled up in blue.

It turns out it is not simply down to to the default colours of Facebook and Twitter as seen in the social web. There are a ton of blue brands out there — particularly in the tech space:  Dell, AOL, IBM, HP, EA and LinkedIn among many others. They are the dominant species. Read More »

WPP agencies working on paid content project

This has been under the radar. Two companies in Sir Martin Sorrell’s WPP Group are working together on a paid content initiative (don’t call it a paywall), called The Content Project (TCP).

It hopes to create a network of publishers who will offer readers an electronic wallet for buying content across a range of sites. Read More »
