Social awesomeness (example #1)

There are some people who get it, and others who don’t.  In the past week we’ve seen the social media team  at Warner Bros come up with a major social FAIL with a poorly executed piece of outreach.  Where some fail, others are awesome, and in the same week I received an AWESOME piece of engagement from a friendly (and successful) US agency called Humongo.

Here’s my Humongo relationship story: I first came across Humongo a couple of years ago via their blog Brandflakes for breakfast.  I then started following their annual roadtrip across the States, which was dubbed “Plaid Nation” (as at the time they were called Plaid), watching the various interviews they shot with web2.0 stars including the likes of Twitter and Robert Scoble.  Off the back of these interviews, I decided to write a nice little blog post about them.

Fast-forward 12 months, and I randomly receive a package through the post.  I open it to find a T-shirt, badge and air-freshner (randomly) together with a letter – importantly, it was an awesomely worded letter inviting me to take a look at their 2010 Humongo Nation tour.  So I did, and have now virtuously (based around their awesomely worded letter) written about how awesome they are.

So the lesson for all us social mediary people: be nice.  Simple.
